The "Toward the Terra" anime will be made available for viewing via PC and mobile phones two days after its Saturday April 7th TV broadcast debut. The TV series occupies the same 6 PM Saturday timeslot as predecessors "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED DESTINY" and "Fullmetal Alchemist", making it likely that the anime will attract a great deal of attention from viewers.

As related in a previous article, "Toward the Terra" was serialized in Monthly Manga Shonen (Asahi Sonorama, now defunct) from 1977 to 1980. The classic manga's dynamic, socially-conscious story and compelling characters quickly won fans from all walks of life, including everyone from junior high school students to office-workers and housewives. The manga received the Seiunshou Award for best SF comic in 1978 and the 1979 Shogakukan Manga Award, and an animated film adaptation followed in 1980.

The series is set in the far future, after mankind has fled the polluted Earth to live in computer-regulated space colonies. On the fringes of society dwell the MU, feared and hunted psychics who dream of one day returning to Earth. MU leader Soldier Blue and his successor Jomy begin an epic struggle to find a homeland for their people.

The digital PC and mobile phone-compatible episodes (#1-#3) will be available for download free of charge until May 7th. Future episodes will be released on Mondays, two days after the TV broadcast, and will be a free download for the first week following broadcast and available for a fee after that.
